Centering the voices of individuals with lived experience through trauma-informed approaches in nonprofits is essential for bringing about meaningful change in our communities. In this session, we will:

Define and recognize the significance of lived experience.

Identify tools and resources to empower individuals with lived experience to share their own stories.

Understand the importance of ethical storytelling and partnership with lived experts.

Highlight ongoing efforts in Oklahoma to amplify the voices of individuals with lived experience.
As the director of advocacy and public policy at the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma, Lauren has focused on grassroots advocacy, particularly the Regional Food Bank’s neighbor engagement work. Her work has included the development and implementation of Magnify Oklahoma, a nine-month training program aimed at empowering neighbors with lived experience to elevate their voices.
Brockman is a Master of Legal Studies candidate at the University of Oklahoma, College of Law. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources from Oklahoma State University.
